Criticism, however: Five stars for the joy of music

The concerns of "Prof.D." in terms of the sound I can understand in certain circumstances. Since he outs himself as a fairly experienced Audiophile (who else beats around with the Colorfly?), I suspect that it is more likely about something bad aftertaste Generic (Do not you just love the sound of a device such as Naim vs. Accuphase) or to false headphones (got the DT 1350 is not part of the AK-100, but the 50p, and was cold and without space). Built in the AK-100 hardware is beyond reproach, but the pairing with headphones did not prove problematic. "Euphemistic" headphones (eg Bose QuietComfort) not passed, only came Matsch. But analytical vote me fit not (already mentioned 50p). Neutrality was stocking at the end gave me (in the class to 300 EUR) of Ultrasone HFI780 and Sennheiser Momentum liked most, the Sennheiser it has become in the end because it is portable, and the music spatially keeps you warm and nice (also if heights fans might miss the last brilliance in the highest frequency ranges). In terms of choosing the right headset AK-100 is certainly not without funny business.

The firmware of the device is grottig, quite honestly. Mac formats (ALAC) he may not even that needs to be delivered in January. The touchscreen operation is so, but no more, as are Apple Devices years front of it. The volume adjustment control dial is beautiful. The three outer buttons (FF, PLAY / PAUSE, REW) are practical. The supplied software I could not examine them on my single Windows device they could be not only install, for the Mac's not it. So store music directly on map.

The place is sufficient. With two (in addition to acquiring) 64GB microSD cards you have 160 GB in your pocket, like an iPod Classic, but much smaller. For this you can still take other cards, and has thus theoretically infinite space.

Why I give five stars? The flaws in the software and firmware would actually lead to the withdrawal of a two star, so I find justified the other reviews. But: The incredibly good sound (in conjunction with the right Headphones) has brought back to me a joy of music, which I had not for years. I hear again demanding records I've ever not in the mood. Even MP3 sources are excellent reproduced, even on an analog cable (mini-jack) into the sound system of my car (mini). I hear more music than ever before, and in a quality at places where I would never have expected it.

And this joy that gave me this - not fully mature and a bit overpriced - supplies box, this joy is simply worth five stars to me. :-)

UPDATE:

Several months later and updates the device is still become much better, especially in the following points:
- ALAC works
- Reliable in the database scan
- Improved user interface significantly
- As ext. DAC usable - fantastically eg on Mac when using Spotify

Especially the latter point raises the utility again to clear.
