The scoring / checker / notches of zoom and focus ring are significantly coarser than with my Sony SAL 1650 and somewhat coarser than my Sigma 18-200mm. I feel this as pleasant. One should as already mentioned by the way, make sure that the focus ring is not activated when you have not switched on the camera to MF (manual focus), as the camera focus rod is then connected to the focus of the lens. A simple retreat of the ring, which should allow manual focusing, is not enough. You have to do both, only then the switching process on MF is complete. Some non annoys me
There are about focusing on Youtube by the way some reviews that show how fast or slow the lens can fokissieren. I feel the speed of a lens without USM alsrichtig well. If the contrast of the image is sufficient, then the focus is always quick and crisp. But since all my lenses really no different. Low light and low contrast to make my SLT57 each objective a number of problems.
One advantage the lens on a Sony way: We can dispense with the lack of stability in the lens. Therefore, it is even more interesting for Sony cams. The function of my 57 to create colored borders around the focused level during manual focusing, makes working with MF at each objective way, much easier than with many other cameras. Therefore, I have no problems with this lens, focusing ring m. M. Tick one is too easy.
All in all, I find the combination Sony Camera + Tamron SP AF 70-200mm very successful. The weight tared is good, if the camera lens is dependent (by a plugging of the lens on the camera can here no longer be any question), so my 57 "stand" with the objective good aufder body may, without forward or rear tipping over. This of course is really delicious for work on a tripod.
So it's me very happy to have decided to use this lens. And because the Sony cameras have one or the other feature properly the other cameras (stability in the body and help focus for MF) I highly recommend this lens for other Sony SLT users in any case. (Of course, other cams other advantages).
