For that price, and once opened classy packaging (never trust the boxes), the helmet is there, and the first listening, it is rather nice. A relatively neutral and clear sound for headphones of this kind (circum aural = little spatial sound insulation and crushed on the ears).
After three years of moderate use, the verdict is the same: to have worn the helmet, the sound is relatively well preserved. The burning did not clean the helmet leg but the quality remains and the sound is clear and nice if you're a music lover not looking too and if of course you use something other than an iPod in MP3 ...
However the subject is poorly thought out. Wanting probably give a classy look and superior to their purpose, AKG has yet used the large cheap plastic rather fragile, and thick hard plastic headband does not fit at all with relatively thick skulls like mine. Result, it takes 2 minutes to position the millimeter if you move in town, as the slightest movement, if it is not adjusted, it falls. Very bad point for portable headphones, especially as many greenhouse skull. Small heads will not be disturbed, but for me it's a headache after 3 hours.
Another bad point: the cable. Initially very fragile, it also tends to hang around because of its plastic coating "catchy". We must constantly monitor to avoid trapping it in a subway seat, his own arm, or protuberance which passes next to you.
Definitely, this helmet is limited to use at work or at home, because its sound quality is relatively good for its current price (40 euros, do not buy to 80) and the remote control lowers the volume to dialogue if needed someone. But for mobile use, it is relatively impractical and poorly thought out.
At the time, we made AKG pay their trademark, and 80 euros was a bit too much for a headset of this kind. For 60 euros, I preferred it to the time the Panasonic RP-HTX7, supra aural sound less detailed and more acute drafts, but at much better comfort on the road, not to mention the insulation supra aural. Bulky because not folding but very sturdy. And it is 30 euros today.
In conclusion, if you insist on the sound precision, go for the AKG, but if you want a portable headset primarily and standing on your head, take a Panasonic (or other if you have side choice) you would type the medium further forward than the bass and treble and a little resonance compared to the usual compressed to its own closed helmets, but you do not have to constantly pay attention to cable and headphones that moves on your head.
At 40 euros, this headset is quite nice for a fixed workstation, but there is far better in the market today.
