Have the bracket mounted on the mountain bike stem. My Oregon mounted unobtrusively here and not so vulnerable in my opinion, when dropped, as if the holder is mounted directly on the handlebar. The Oregon holds bombproof even in downhill sections. Have mounted in my touring bike the same bracket. Has the advantage that despite the Oregon still a handlebar bag can be attached during assembly on the stem.
