Nevertheless, I find this lens quite often on my camera before, especially for individuals, groups, available light or when I can not make me really, what is with the camera bag:
- Excellent all-rounder when you want to use the high light intensity to indemnify the background. I think the focus (at least in my copy) even at f 2.8 surprisingly good and very useful. This also coincides with test reports that even the best performance certify this Tamron at 2.8 at the telephoto end. Here comes the digital optimized, high-intensity competition in the telephoto range even only up to 50mm!
- Absolutely amazingly I find extremely low tendency to color fringing (CA) even in critical situations. This holds true especially for the "Bokeh CA", ie color shifts in the blurred image portions, a problem with which many are struggling even much more expensive bright optics of all manufacturers and which then eg to clear green or brownish image portions or edges in "Out-of-focus" area leads. Of this almost nothing is visible at this lens, so that the Tamron mE in this respect absolutely outstanding and beautiful bokeh supplies (for my taste, therefore even more beautiful than the Zeiss 1.4 / 85, which I also use regularly).
- The stray light behavior is (at up setter Gegenlichtblende) likewise uncritical
- The mechanism is quite well, the manual focus unfortunately really too steep or too much game for convenient manual setting
There is in my view no alternatives with better value for money in this focal length range, and in this light intensity!
In assessing the sharpness in practical use is to observe the way that the Focus range straight at close range is offenblendig already extremely narrow (still a good centimeter at an object at 1 m distance !!!). According to relevant tests provides the autofocus with all camera manufacturers sometimes very questionable results where, for example, the Sony A700 is even almost the best yet, which is produced in the amateur class. The focus sensor is unfortunately not always exactly where it maintains the viewfinder and all of this is of course only one for bright optics in the first place can see in the pictures. And then requires only a small movement of the camera when triggered to let wander the main subject at the edge of the Focus range.
