The button must be pressed, if you want to see the status of the battery. The display is presented with 4 LEDs (1 LED is probably meet about 25 percent, is realistic) and goes out after a few seconds of its own - very good. The button is located on one of the large sides and is slightly recessed, so it can not be easily pressed by accident as reported in other models - also very good.
A flashlight is not the battery. If they are, it's not missing much that here no further frills was installed that could be switched on by accident and then empty sucks the battery.
