A brief history:
This album is my first Volbeat disc. Was more or less a stroke of luck in the Grabbelbox a large electronics market, and I have definitely not regret it. Had in mind that a co-worker swears by this band, so I thought to myself: Just try. So much for the history ..
Now to the essence:
Hammer. What hermacht this disc in sound and tempo, a blowing my opinion partly simply off the skullcap. The admixture is uncompromising on my view "full on the 12!" trimmed, and that's just excuses, cool! I am otherwise rather "solid" go as far as rock / metal music, so classics like ZZ Top, Led Zeppelin, Ramones, Dire Straits, but also Disturbed example. I was at first surprised and flabbergasted at any rate simply what the Volbeat guys deliver, especially because I had no idea so or concrete expectations. The compilation and combination of the songs is really great, there is real "down window and volume up!" - Songs like "Heaven Nor Hell", "Thanks" or "Being 1", but also more aggressive as "Evelyn". Of interest also the order .. is after a powerful start, it goes in the middle portion "rectified" continue, the third last, already mentioned song "Evelyn" (in my opinion the most aggressive on the disc) will open the doors for a rollicking and downright "music in pop style" end .. but it degenerates not to circus act, because this seemingly typical basic-pressure is always maintained. What these "Basic Printing" is? Krachige riffs, pounding drums, driving tempo, catchy melodies .. I do not want too far out on a limb, but if you like thundering rock music with a high fun factor, but also their aggressive sides will love this disc. It may be that this album more "light" is what Volbeat regards as another reviewer remarked .. But that I find not bad, because so vll find. Even people who otherwise at the mention of "Metal" the same get gasping to this music.
Conclusion: initial spark when it comes this band has worked for me, this was definitely not my last Volbeat disc.
