2. Good, more accommodating and fast support from HP!
First I bought a used device - because cheap and as good as new. The used equipment was eating when copying / faxing the leaves and gave them to "voluntarily" no longer free. In addition, there was no connection to the fax jack (no signal). The latter may have been due also to the cable or the device.
After consultation with the suppliers we contacted the support from HP: I had four days a "general-refurbished unit, additionally a new fax cable and a full bottle of HP get (goodwill!) All this quickly and accommodating.!
3. Greed is good!?!?
The manufacturers are all subject to a quite a pressure on prices - will suffer quality UVA As a professional user and computer scientists me a slightly higher price in favor of more quality, a duplex printing of addresses would be held 2 times feeding etc. pp. .... Prefer.
Therefore, it must not "stand printer be necessary for several 1000 Euros - or now does it?
Defects: From my perspective, those reviews, what it was 2 star deduction:
1. Control Panel and monochrome display are puny and not very intuitive. You make a mistake, for example, quickly in the mini-key when faxing and the display is a "saving variant". The buttons and color displays with Epson printers are there weeeesentlich better! For me: 0,5 star deduction. The power button on the right side of Bedienfaleds .... - well: getting used to and a bit cumbersome.
Why does the printer (display) when turning my "power plug strip" turns nevertheless it is off, do not tell me. But okay, he schltet then right back from. (I hope anyway?).
2. Duplex printing:
Duplex printing (both sides) to work - but the printer will not turn the tide, and also prints only with a "printing". The MFP225 first prints the front - are they out almost completely - it draws on again - and then prints the second side.
That takes a correspondingly long, loaded (wear) the transport technology and involves sources of error (for example, if the possibly infected Papoier times (not yet occurred).
A mailing, billing, form letters with 100s to 1000s-sided letters so I would therefore rather not print - should be expected for a "Professional" but. But that's probably due to the price pressure !?
3. Paper tray:
The paper tray seemed to me at first quite "shaky", little vetrrauensüwrdig. One must be "stuck together". So far everything is ok, but how long does the plastic flower arrangement remains abzuwartren.
4. There is no USB port on the front. But I knew before was not offered. If it is someone important - it is called.
5. But now: The software:
Because the software package from HP from me it 1.5 star deduction:
No matter what the devices (printers) and can / should: You will need software to use! The software is therefore - at least for me! -. As important as the device itself Here lacks many - to "unusable". Have the impression as if the subject of "Software" in HP treated fairly neglected. If the Moor going to do his duty, so he has not met! In Detail:
5.1. When installing everything is automatically set to C: popped \ - to choose any option other installation path / partition / folder! Real People: That is standard today; each PC professionally decorated has min. 3 partitions (C: System / Windwos, D: Software, e: data). However, one can rule out einzelene programs.
Install / De-install and re-install works Allerding good = no residue - even well into the registry.
5.2. I find no way to disable the fax reception! This should be possible as an option, in case anyone runs another (digiales) fax machine or ISDN card Upper faxes in the network etc.
5.3. The Komponeten the software package is quite a "piecemeal". There is no central program to manage everything and the programs look different, are acting under cross-eyed you ... etc.
5.4. The scanning program is useless (see Appendix: Screenshot).
After the pre-scan can first choose neither location nor filename. If everything is stored by default .... grrrrrr .... annoying!
Only in the lower setting and always when calling the scan program you can specify that you want to ask, woh
One can not turn the Pre-scan any - it would be the must always precisely insert straight - and must no longer even move when you close the lid.
One can only brightness and contrast adjusting. Important would be at least a gamma correction, which should always be corrected during scanning.
One can not scan in the zoom in (magnifying glass) - Sorry, but it did not work! It is impossible to meet the exact size of a document and scan.
Of course you can make to an image processing further - but a few basics - inbes. a gamma correction! - Should dominate a scanning program.
5.5. The OCR "IRIS" is unusable
The OCR also installed automtaisch on C: is cumbersome, unintuitive and the text recognition is moderate. Some times I could not open the text file (Opemn Office)
5.7. The fax software - is spartan, awkward access and operate. For me, here like such Duplex printing: This is for a "Professional Printer" anything but professional, also: piecemeal ".
5.7. Services and drivers:
The drivers work of course! The selection of profiles - which can be put together individually - is great to also scan OF THE POSSIBILITY in PDF. Various services can be switched off only with expertise in Windows, choose to install non smoking (see also: Everything at C: installed).

Wish you like it for less savvy users "just" make - or at least an option you should also open professional users, especially of software more importance and more options send.!
The machine as a printer, copier and fax is good, the scan results and (4 stars). With better value Dupelx pressure also 5 star.
