Diana Krall unplugged

The Girl in the Other Room (Audio CD)

Customer Review

"The Girl in the Other Room" Diana Krall's "Unplugged" or "Stripped" album is. After the last but arg sugary, caressed by strings and full orchestra albums the beautiful Canadian is now apparently back to basics. The cast is, the songs mostly written by guitar, bass, Hammond organ, drums and herself at the piano almost minimalist for the first time by itself or together with husband Elvis Costello. And therein lies the strength of this marvelous album: the new songs are full of poetry and meet exactly to the point. Between text and music is no longer a whole orchestra, but they are much more directly than in the past, much more personal. The influence of the brilliant songwriter Costello is palpable and yet it is one hundred percent Diana Krall songs and of course there are also still jazz songs as pearls from the boxes, but it's a jazz who has found back to his roots, for immediate , "The girl in the other room," which is also the other Diana Krall, who now unadorned and devoid of any glossing on the piano singing her songs. Not for nothing is that reflected in song titles like "I've Changed My Address" or "Abandoned Masquerades" resist.
A very large capacity of the couple Krall and MacManus, as Elvis Costello actually is and the also under this name funnily thanked on the envelope. To define at the level of success all over again and that too in this compelling way - do not succeed each.
My personal Anspieltipps: "Narrow daylights", "Almost Blue" and "Departure Bay".
