At first glance, the MadCatz FightPad makes a really high-quality impression: The Street Fighter motif chic, the glossy lacquer finish and the equally shiny buttons simply look great.
Once you look at the whole thing closer or even take in hand, disillusionment occurs. Show unsightly paint noses that here my great care was not working. The Xbox Guide button is used slightly crooked and the rubber inserts, which are intended to ensure bessen maintenance, are not fit, so are about. The feel is also for naught: This pad is much lighter than its attached cable and thus acts very cheap.
But what it actually arrives's the feel, but also here the FightPad failed miserably. The well-arranged, but rickety keys have a good pressure point, but can not compete with those of the XBOX 360 controller. A slightly better impression do here already the shoulder buttons, which listen, however, the pressing also cheap.
Could one with the keys still alive, it's just that the manufacturer so great Digi-cross that the pad makes a full end. First, the plastic looks here again really cheap, on the other hand, the part feels spongy. Although the direction inputs up, down, left and right funtionieren significantly more accurate than the 360 controller, diagonal entries are only under strong and precise pressure to reach into corners.
I am not exaggerating here definitely not when I say that this pad is extremely suitable for beat'em ups. Combos or attacks that start with a diagonal entry are to accomplish virtually not in the heat of battle. Quadrant inputs function reasonably, but the perfect and precise query with which the pad is applied is never reached.
It is urgently recommended to stay away from the part and to play with the analog stick of the Xbox 360 controller or to go up a arcade stick. Anyone who has doubts, the thing might still order and eventually return.
Benefit could the whole thing but still have: For 2D platformers like the Sonic series, the FightPad should be fairly well suited because there diagonal entries are not needed as a rule. I have mine yet returned because I do not see it before, spending nearly 40 not fulfilling a so unclean processed and its purpose product. 10-15 would be much more appropriate, although I have seen in this price range neater processing.
Two stars because there is the pretty design and the benefits in 2D platformers. Beat'em Up-friends are here but really at the wrong address!
