To say it right away: Who is not a fan of Media Ventures music a la room, which was to "Pacific Rim" a wide berth, because just like the soundtrack of Steve Jablonsky on "Battleship" is "Pacific Rim" made 100% according to the book of this company. Of course it's nothing bad, there are countless fans of this broad and upbeat music, like me, who is on vibrant beats and groovy guitar sounds, will get his money.
Is headed "Pacific Rim" by a very horny main theme, simple but full of bombast and energy, this comes as a guitarist Tom Morello (this also appeared in "Battleship" with). The subject has significant catchy factor and runs through the entire soundtrack, sometimes larger, sometimes discreet in "Canceling The Apocalypse". Very nice are the good variations, the highlight remains the first track "Pacific Rim".
Furthermore, there is a quieter motive to figure Mako in the same title. This convinced the vocalist Priscilla Ahn. As I said, who is bothered by the sound of typical RC scores, here is not happy because the more emotional pieces as "Mako" have known the sound of rooms & Co.
In the 57 minutes we get a good cross-section of music, with the action-share significantly predominates. Here known elements keep coming back for use as an electric guitar or large choirs. From time to time it is then but also quiet again, with loosening tracks, like "Call Me Newt", "Pentecost" or the beginning of "Physical compatibility".
Overall, the soundtrack its rocky, metallic sound retains yet, but this also fits in the face of the film.
Nevertheless, the music has some length and is not quite as good as I had hoped maybe that is also due, that the finale is a bit thin and the score has a very abrupt end at the end. These would be one or two more issues might have been good, who knows ...
Conclusion: Djawadis soundtrack is definitely good and for me still the best in the film. Not his best score, yet entertaining and of course a hot groovy main topic!
