Attention Spoiler !:
It starts with the age of the crew. It looks as if in the revival of the Star Trek series, the creators to have much geared to teenage films. That may still be charming with other teens movies, but if a teenager crew to command one of the most important ships of Starfleet, it borders on absurdity.
The Transwarpbeam: Khan Noonien Singh used this miracle of technology, which only appeared in the history of Star Trek with the new films to endless Continue without a ship to cross. Already alone this beaming is more than absurd in the Star Trek universe. In the normal timeline which this beam centuries impossible and suddenly with a little help from old Spock is possible. But what makes the Enterprise crew to Khan to pick? The grab a spaceship, fly it in enemy territory and thus risk a war. Although they have simply to beam undiscovered technology.
As Scotty flies to the coordinates mentioned him where a secret research base is, none of which is to realize something that he is not discovered. He just flies so take a shuttle there and is detected by any scanner. This goes so far that a flying in the base into group did not even wonder if Scotty is which simply connects so. The tabs safeguards it surprises me greatly that this base could apparently operate undetected for years.
The flight at warp speed. In the shelling of this Enterprise drops out of the Warp Speed. As is implied that the ship is in a Tunel. That would close rather wormhole and not build this speed on a Warpblase that forms around the ship and so leads them. I know this is very Nerdisch the denouncing here, but that does not fit so rather Stargate but to Star Trek.
As the Enterprise rushed to the earth had to be rescued by this diversion of warp power (for whatever reason). Because it happens that even in this film had a sacrifice. Here in my opinion, too much of the tribute was to "The Wrath of Khan". Because in this film it had to be different, of course, had not Spock, Kirk but to believe it. But what he had to do here to save the Enterprise? It is not immediately dropped dead when he (? Warp) had exposed core, the massive radiation one. He copped Not even a bump fire. No. He climbs in there and jump a little on a part around so that it is opposite to the jump direction moves the zigten jump and thus activates the warp core. This Kirk is not waporisiert as expected, but climbs out of the core and is slowly dying on a glass door near Spock (as in Wrath of Khan's only vice versa). He still no signs of high radiation or heat, which has to come from such a reactor.
The reawakening of the captain. That which has lasted an entire sequence with the old series and needed a weapon that could meet an entire planet with life, blood is here within moments with Khan managed. That seems to be the elixir of life, everyone should have.
The Oath "Capteins": "Space, the final frontier ..." This should be an oath? Because someone has to take a little bit with trying something out of the old series to very overwhelmed.
Spoilers end!
This film is full riddled with contradictions. Therefore, due to poor story and mediocre acting performance of the new Department, I would not give more than two stars. Why do I have forgiven but more and have looked at, despite the? It has only one reason: Benedict Cumberbatch. He gives this film a depth that otherwise would not have. In my opinion, he embodies Khan much better than Ricardo Montalbán.
For fans of Cumberbatch and / or action fans, the place is not so much emphasis on depth and logic in a movie worth, I can recommend this film. Those who but the original Star Trek universe might be, probably be disappointed by this film.
