I use the drive for reading audio CDs. This works fine with 6-7x speed with my iMac 2013 with Mac OS X Yosemite. For the price actually unbeatable, even the appearance is ok. The drive is working properly without external power supply, which is probably not a matter of course. According to system report is in the CD drive:
