The gel insert is well incorporated. Have the piece partially suspended in the laptop bag lot of pressure but it kept tight. The edges fray now after 3 weeks partly a little, but that does not bother me. Non-slip right here actually, because it has a very grippy rubber bottom. The pad could have been 2-3 cm higher for me, but that's indeed on the hand and the mouse.
