Dutronc Jacques (1972) (CD)

Customer Review

After the Bavarian portrait is in stamp and big mustache that friend Dutronc is back, as is "pretty" ... But if the look is friendly (and his beautiful accordion), the music remains as we wish, and often irreverent tangy failing to match the quality of a golden parenthesis (Album 1-4) now pretend the past.

Again, Lanzmann is not the only songwriter album of the same size if the lion's share with nine of the eleven tracks. The others are to be attributed to Fred (back with the blind elephant), Serge Gainsbourg (She is so ...) and Dutronc himself "author" of a beautiful collection of pets (Effluves offered bonus on This vinyl replica). Musically, there is of course the delicious and nostalgic Petit Jardin, an unstoppable standard in absolutely irresistible old-fashioned charm. The rest, often more anecdotal quoiqu'agréable, does not stand comparison: Public Domain Privacy is a friendly rythm'n'blues alas the softies brass, Not Forgetting you is a pretty croonerie in which Dutronc fact that but it can so cruelly lacking the humor that it feels uneasy, etc. Indeed, one has the impression that diffuse Dutronc is "variétise" normalizes, is almost gentrified. Obviously, there are still those rare artists whose album still contains enough treasures (the cute car and jazzy Elephant Blind, the rogue Is It If normal is the Gainsbarre!) For us to go in as temple, but, if nothing is unworthy here or unpleasant, mayonnaise has more trouble to take.

It will take three years for Dutronc returns with a long-play time it will devote to the beginning (oh so promising) of his acting career. A break which he had surely much needed as shown this album subdued, not bad but below the usual quality standards of both Jacques.
