The DBPOWER Lichtwecker awakens, as the name suggests, by a sound and light signal. Which means nothing other than that adjacent to the (non-alterable) beep still lights up, the display light. If the bedroom is dark, that should at least be enough that you get visually indicating that it is time to get up.
