Bothered me the recommendation of Venta, every 2 weeks the new machine to fill with new hygiene. In a first demand I was told that the hygiene is only about 2 weeks. I asked for explanations for chemical / physical reason for this claim and received after several weeks of waiting the manufacturer's information that the agent contains a salt, which neutralizes the lime content of the water, so as to avoid calcium deposits. Due to the continuous addition of new water, the salt is reduced accordingly. This explanation is plausible. Other substances that would kill as bacteria or clean the air returned to the room in any way, according to the manufacturer are not included. Conclusion: The hygiene helps to prevent or decrease the calcification in the vessel. That's good, but also with budgetary resources (eg vinegar) could be achieved. It also makes the water softer, so that the lamella better hold water, also good, but can also be achieved with a splash Pril. So much for the benefit of the hygiene agent according to the manufacturer. Since the middle but otherwise does nothing further, I think the term "hygiene" for totally misleading. In this respect me the term "air washer" appears inappropriate. Although the TÜV comes to the conclusion, among other things, "that by the special technique of cold evaporation with or without hygiene additive no respirable aerosols are released into the air." Note: with or without hygiene! In plain English: For the cleanliness not you need the hygiene.
It may now each decide whether it considers the costs of hygiene means acceptable.
