The third door (Paperback)

Customer Review

The story revolves around Jeremy Logan, énigmologue medieval and Yale professor of history. The character itself is not necessarily very interesting. We do not know much about him, it is not necessarily charismatic and more quacteur of history, it has sometimes the impression that it is more spectator events.

Quickly, Jeremy is committed to dapporter his skills on an archaeological site in Egypt. This is the first point that I find interesting. You could sattendre to yet another remake of the Mummy. We are in Egypt in search of the tomb of a pharaoh Classic nest if the decor: no sand, pyramid and small scorpions. We are in the middle of the Sudd, putrid swamp supposed to house the tomb of Narmer (first Pharaoh of unified lEgypte). A floating city has almost been built to carry the construction site and everything would be better without this inviolable rule: you can not do archaeological research without falling under the dune curse hit (some shots seem inevitable). This is precisely the reason for the arrival of Jeremy although it's hard to believe that the billionaire who runs and pays for the operations really feel intimidated by threats dune mummy.

Until then, many little description and Drafting. I've had a little trouble back in the history for that reason. The author is proof of originality and as such is obliged to draw up its decor. Otherwise the drive immediately imagine the robber who dynamite everything in its path. Unfortunately, this part is relatively long and uninteresting. If it could not be removed, it would have completely been reduced by feeding directly to Jeremy for example.

Finally our hero arrives on site and must obviously face the ridicule and skepticism "real" scientists working on site, despite the unexplained events that everyone could see. From that moment, the story tends toward the paranormal. Thats why I would not advise this book to everyone, even if this little supernatural side is not exploited to the utmost and still remains in the background, it can still interfere with the more "down to earth" readers. At this stage of reading, my mind was favorable but nothing more.

This is from two thirds of the book that history actually wins in intensity and interest. Jappréhendais then increasingly late, fearing the last sentence ambiguous, leaving on his hunger, gender hero who looks out the window of his plane and suddenly has a strange feeling none of that here, we know the final word Of the history. The end almost by itself justify my bill. It is neither too short nor too long what is already a good point. In my imagination, she sapproche particularly successful from that of another book, Carrie by Stephen King (at least nominally).

In conclusion, this book enables a good time despite some unnecessary lengths and passages. The most resistant to the supernatural can go their way, however the curse of fans and former dEgypte should appreciate nice to get out of nasty pyramid scheme archaeologist looter. Note the particularly successful end that allows the defects to forget the beginning.
