Battle For The Sun (Audio CD)

Customer Review

For many the end of April showed a spontaneous emotional joy that should have spoken out on the imaginary scale between a slight smile and a shout of joy to the outside. The first musical excerpt brought us placebo few days later with the single 'For What It's Worth', which on April 20 celebrated its premiere. The long-haired Brian Molko revealed in the accompanying video, which personalizing labels can cause everything, but some more obvious than others. The song itself is of the known characteristics of the English trio, around the new drummer Steve Forrest. Punchy but with slightly disarmed whip you storm with a simple structure through the 3:14 minute.

Much more interesting here already designed the title track 'Battle For The Sun', which also celebrated its premiere on the radio and then stood ready for free download on the official placebo page. Some say the first few minutes were rather slow, others find it just damn succeeded refreshingly different is the actual keyword and despite all excuses met the typical sound of Molko and Steve Olsdal. Especially the long-drawn sentences beginning "I will battle for the sun / And I will not stop until I'm done / You are getting in the way / And I have nothing left to say" and the constantly repeating words throughout the title track , make this so special appear.

Brian said some time ago even the new album: "I believe 'Battle For The Sun' to be the first of our albums to tell a story over the course of its 52 minutes Our previous releases were really only collections of songs and even though. the songs are ordered .According to the musical flow. " The story itself begins uncompromising and unexpectedly, although it the brutal entry of 'Bulletproof Cupid' can not replace natural. It squeezes rather between this and 'Meds' and transfers it to the faster 'Ashtray Heart'.

At the time of 'Black Market Music' had to give up the search for obvious hits early and realize that catchiness and swirling riffs are definitely not to be found here. Quite different, however it runs at 'Battle For The Sun' with its three potential hits to kick off, the only search by 'Devil In The Details' with shrouded visions their salvation in the abstract. The grim fascination enveloped Molko already since the beginning of career in dark shade structures and draws this time the media-friendly image to the tape.

Nevertheless followed by two small trailers with 'The Never' a pretty straight rock number with nice guitar effects and a crass section to the next song 'Julien'. An electro-pop beat number, the then yet another fresh ideas towards the end, the contours can roam and the guitars take out of the corner. After following ballad 'Happy You're Gone' disappear placebo our eyes again and hunt already making great strides to an end. After 'King Of Medicine', the trio adopted then be final, but at no time of your successful trademark.

And finally, you have not even necessary. Placebo have never delivered a bad album and do the same with 'Battle For The Sun' is not. Headliner at all festivals this year and so the commercialism ultimately, does not come off, there is the stink-normal MP3 download up to super-strict-limited and exclusive deluxe edition all for the open-minded fan of Placebo today. About the taste is debatable, but one thing is sure, however: Brian, Stefan and Steve are allowed to count this year to great Abräumern - whether you indulged.
