This small NAS is really perfect.
It is silent, is not the fastest (the copy time several GB will take a while, especially with traditional HDD), but it does the job well.
It does not take up space and allows for a number of pretty amazing things.
But as long as we know them in computer network .... In order to exploit all the possibilities of the case, you better be experienced in computer / network. The user interface (DSM) is very well designed, but it can quickly get lost in the options.
For an average user, that is, save files, pushing its network to its UPnP TV or network share on Windows / Mac is very simple via the DSM interface.

But to exploit the possibilities of the network box must spend time there.
This happens by a Packet center where you can download free modules to enhance the user experience. Here is a partial list:

- Automatic backup of all or part of your data on an external cloud (like Amazon Glacier)

To manage HDD (SSD-compatible as well), this NAS supports all RAID types Protocol, of which one owner to Synology (SHR).
The DSM interface is regularly updated and well maintained by the team of Synology.

In short, the NAS can turn into real little behind his staff DataCenter Modem, albeit with modest performance and limited to the size of your HDD 2.5 inches you are going to put it, but strong possibilities could not be more complete.
