Excellent novel that changes the usual Chattam frame without changing the substance. We always talk to evil, but now we are witnessing its birth. And where I am not at all agree with some comments is that this story is a success and most importantly, is credible. Yes we are in a small village of the 60 where it ever happens, so no wonder the sheriff train a bit to find the culprit, especially since he says he really does all that he could (do not forget that the narrator is not omniscient and does not know everything!) Second, the kid is born with the evil inside him, and one day within the scope of a drive frees it, we must take action once. And then there is no question of instinct, he does what he does because he likes it, knowing full well the harm this causes (he likes to see the harm it does to others, cf the young girl he found at the end of the book!) So not a life dedicated to evil in another register that cannibalism in the words of a comment but equally credible. And especially no no and no, a criminal, even the greatest geniuses we do not respect it !!! Because even genius remains primarily a criminal! So Jon Petersen as the embodiment of evil Lecter, with less class but who cares? They are on two levels of evil different but equally nasty! The two final twists are successful, I particularly liked one of them showing that ultimately evil really lies everywhere (and looking at the various facts we can only agree ..). In short an excellent novel for me, made your own mind;)
