After studying the manual to understand (unfortunately a DIN A2 sheet and no booklet) can begin to connect and print already. The entire connecting material is, including original 8m tape cartridge with 24mm width.
For stationary use the supplied power supply unit is used.
6 AA batteries (not included) used for mobile power.
The marking device contains an integrated software, so it can be used on any computer instantly (requires administrative privileges). It is quickly loaded the print program and the work is possible after about 30 seconds.
From XP to Windows7 I had no problems connecting.
In addition, a CD with a more complex software is included. Switched is the use of a selector switch on the label maker.
The CD program includes even more pressure symbols and bar codes, can be printed. It is an Express version (similar to the built-in software) present and a significantly more expensive professional version. The printable PDF from the CD "manual" for this CD software is just a quick introduction and thus unusable, here helps only the help function of the program.
Printing works fine. It can all PT-bands are used by 3.5mm to 24mm width. The print quality is excellent for text and icons. For the opportunity (preferably at 24mm width) insert small photos with sufficient but the resolution is not made - they are too coarse.
Slightly annoying, I find that 25mm is added before and after word. While there is the possibility to reduce the margins that are 25mm but then also cut off. This means unnützend tape consumption and have their design for the user can be solved cheaper.
All in all, an excellent device that I can only recommend.
Please note however, data protection:
In this type of labeling strips (like Brother Dymo) a color printing tape produces your labels. This ribbon is wound into the cassette and later disposed of. All prints are so easy to read later. For confidential information, you should remove the small black roller from the cartridge prior to disposal. The cassette can be easily openable with a knife.
Note:
Not so good is the support for Brother.
My question before buying, if the PT-2430PC is Win7 compatible, was answered only after 4 days with a standard text plus link to download a Windows 7 driver. Because this device is so special but the built-in software for immediate use after connection, my question was nochmalig whether this was possible. This time again only a link to a Win7 drivers.
I ordered then anyway.
Here perhaps someone still has to do his homework !!
Already on the outside packaging all systems are listed from XP to Win7 and included appropriately in the integrated software as well as on the CD software.
However, my question before buying emerged also in that was not mentioned in the catalog Brother 01/2011 WIN7.
Conclusion:
++ Excellent workmanship
++ Very understandable, easy to use program
++ On any computer (XP to Win7) for immediate use (integrated software)
++ Carefully crafted printer
++ Enclosed power supply / battery operation also possible
++ 3.5 to 24 mm wide belts possible
++ Versatile software on CD (in setting "Professional")
without Rating: Please note - operation only possible with PC
- At least 25mm predetermined band consumption per print
- No comprehensive manual for additional CD software (Help function and thus consuming search of individual functions at the beginning)
- Poor support
- Confidential data remains on the ribbon in the cassette and are later read
