Indeed, playable mini games with 5 players are numbering 5 (mini Zelda game does playing only 4) and include:
- The great adventure of Pikmin
- Bounty Hunters (Metroid)
- Animal Crossing - the candy feast
- Mario fleeing
- Luigi and the Haunted Mansion
I'll stop especially on mini-games of Mario and Luigi, the others being either too rough (Pikmin) or too short (Animal Crossing), or complicated to implement (Mini Metroid game requires 4 Wiimotes and 4 nunchuks to be played with 5 players ...)
Mario and Luigi fugitive and haunted mansion are 2 mini games that allow to realize how the Wii U Gamepad is innovative.
The first is that a player is a Mii dressed as Mario who has to hide in a level, the other off to find him with the only indication the distance separating them from the mustachioed plumber. The player who plays Mario on his Gamepad see on a map the location of all the other players and can therefore anticipate its trajectory ... unless the other players cooperate! So it will be more difficult for Mario to escape other Mii who go to his rescue.
The second mini-game involves the player who plays Gamepad plays a ghost who has to catch the other Miis. The latter, playing on the TV, should use their vacuum cleaners and flashlights to try to find the ghost in the dark manor. Compulsory cooperation if the ghost will get rid of every player in no time! (Fortunately still alive players can revive their teammate who was caught).
Strengths:
- The friendliness of the game several
- The variety of mini games
- The proper use of the Wii U Gamepad
- Variants levels to unlock the mini games
- Find the biggest Nintendo licenses
Weak points:
- The game requires a lot of accessories (as many as wiimotes players (none is supplied with the console), knowing that it will also add much nunchuks for Metroid game ...)
- Heavy Interface from which thankfully is simplified later when you unlock the game menu (after testing a few mini games)
- The voice of the robot that explains the interface and the various mini games is quite annoying
- More variety would have been significant levels (future downloadable content planned?)
- No Pokemon (some will rejoice)
Conclusion: If you have not been playing with the pack Wii U NintendoLand and want to test new features of the console with your friends do not hesitate, crazy laughter guaranteed!
