HEARTLAND are the prime example of what happens to a band that just makes good music, but otherwise has no lobby: ignorance until complete oblivion. What stands out immediately: The sound is much too shallow. James "Jimbo" Barton, otherwise a master of his craft (Queensryche !!!), had here certainly not spoken his best day, maybe the record company has a word of power - be trusted it would be A & M all - but anyway: "Heartland" sounds as if someone had thrown a blanket over the 10 songs. Here they are really good, you just have to listen carefully. The guitar is too quiet! But the melodies come to better advantage. After a short time one realized that the British were able to Ex-Virginia Woolf's Chris Ousey catchy melodic / hard rock songwriting with "vulgar" barbs. Who turns up loud enough, the class of this overlooked first work will recognize quickly! Smiling-Shark.com
