For the first time it snarled in subwoofer starting small volume of sound that I first thought of a defective speaker whose voice coil touches the magnetic gap. The cause I found that the speaker cord inside the housing has a particularly cheap mounting and strain relief: It revolves around the cable a piece of binding wire (which otherwise beige supplied cables are held in a bundle) and simply tackert this firmly in the box. Stupidly, the ends of the binding wire were very loose on the housing and have resonated with every bass and geschnarrt the chassis. Solution: Very Carefully remove the mounted speaker plastic grill, unscrew the speaker chassis and either install a solid strain relief or replace at the same time with this process and the outrageously thin Käbelchen of at best 0.5 mm² cross-section compared with at least a 1.5 mm² cross-section. (How should otherwise be transmitted 35 watts into 4 ohms?)
The key for me was the listening test, although my ears at high frequencies no longer are certainly reliable. I have it R & B (Beatles, Deep Purple, Cream) jazz (Oscar Peterson, Tuck n Patty, Jazz at the Pawnshop) singing with guitar accompaniment (Bernd Deivert) and classical music chosen (piano concertos, string, etc.).
Result:
Subwoofer to zero or even minus 1 turn, or he roars to himself. But bass kicks come in zero position not clean but rather soft therefore. Cause here is the coordination between Wooferchassis and housing. I have experimented with the extension of the reflective tube. But then the part has now almost no more bass!
In the above correct the snare sound I also noticed that ridiculous little insulation material (BAF foam) located in the housing. When introducing the triple amount of bass is more precise and a bit weaker. More but you can not expect from this woofer.
The two satellites, I have also operated on position zero or even minus 2 in order to achieve a reasonably balanced sound. In conjunction with the subwoofer I noticed especially with vocals, acoustic guitar, etc. to a slump in the frequency response between satellites and subwoofer. The subwoofer could transfer from midrange with quite a bit more, is therefore limited to early upward.
The satellites transmit very strongly focused on, so that only a narrow sweet spot is created, rather than a listening zone. For use on the PC that is critical, because one device due to the short listening distance by mere nod from the sweet spot out.
The amplifier with the control ran flawlessly and showed no problems with the storage of previous settings. A careful look into the case shows me an equipment with switching power supply and a powered in bridge circuit standard IC for the woofer and a standard IC for the two satellites. Now, more (eg, a digital amplifier or a MOS-FET power amp) I can not wait for this price
However, my application is not on the PC, but I need a low-cost, leichttransportierbares Boxenset to work in small groups up to 15 people can. Therefore, I have greater hearing distances of on average 2 to 3 meters. At these distances now refers my hearing test.
The most important thing for me in such a test, the so-called perceived annoyance: I soiele different styles of music and working while on the PC or read newspapers. If after realtiv short time I feel the system on the laces, which is an important negative indicator.
When C2X in the above settings, the annoyance was relatively low. Again and again surprised me the bass, I would not have expected so this set! And I have also tried several sites for the woofer, also very unfavorable, such as free-standing on a chair. It was always pleasant, except when bass reinforcing represents the woofer to the baseboard of a room or even in the corner of a room. Then roars and deafened it bad!
Volume / dynamic: In the settings mentioned above seems to me the bass still have air while the satellites come a little earlier than the bass to its limits. There occur sound distortion, while the electronics not yet notes that the amplifier is overdriven. So if these electronic limit works, it means that the speaker drivers are inside the satellite to its limits.
For the purpose I want to stay, PA in small groups at room sizes of 30m² for presenting videos, etc. the plant is usually sufficient.
All in all, I was very surprised at the quality of this system. It is hard to imagine for me to get more quality for this price. Therefore, I give my recommendation for this product.
Addendum:
Meanwhile, I had time to take care of the sound optimization. Two actions brought most profit:
1.) After carefully peeling off the plastic front panels can be expanded caution with the short tweeter cables!) The Speakers of both the subwoofer and at the satellite (. The boxes are filled with downright ridiculous little insulating wool. This polyether foam is meant, so how to use it also for cushioning in upholstered furniture. If you fill the boxes loose with additional polyether wins especially the subwoofer through a more precise bass reproduction, even if the bass level is boosted by Equalizer. Before the subwoofer already began to roar at +2.
Even with the satellite speakers, the foam brings significantly more balanced reproduction.
2.) The subwoofer gets offered a maximum of 35 watts according to data sheet. There is installed a 4 ohm speaker. That makes about 3 amps effectively and 4.2 A peak. When ridiculously thin lead produces a significant loss. Consequently, I have also changed with the improvements of the damping and the supply lines. But this please exercise caution and do not use RCA connectors with metal housing! Because that can touch and cause short circuits. All three RCA plug housing are not at the same potential and must be absolutely isolated from each other. So please use plastic housing.
Better yet, of course, the same also replace the RCA plugs for their high resistances against something solid. The times are now not thought to transmit up to 4 amps. But for the exchange I would have to open the amplifier and also have to edit the housing fits. That was me because then too much.
With these two improvements can be reached in any case once again a very significant improvement in sound, without having to spend all too much money. The work is worth it.
