Hello there,
The figure does not (more). The cable is (now) clearly on the latch side of thin! (Kuckt on Oelbach page, how it's (now) looks like.)
And this is where one should not underestimate the advantage. The 3.5 mm jack adapter is probably mainly used to connect mobile devices and thus very light. If one uses the "normal" cable of better quality, these are mostly quite thick and then usually also stiff cables that I very much prefer my high-end components, if only because most of the shield is much better.
Well, this cable I use recently for my COWON X5 on the docking station - and I need 2 of them (playback strand, recording train) and as these fine and for highly-flexible cables come to me at the dock extremely light just right. The Dock is, without being "somewhere" adjusted by the cable or to fall by the heavy weight firmer cable even from the podium or the hi-fi rack.
The Oehlbach "MP3" has metal plug. Especially on the latch side of advantage: The connector sleeve is not quite round but each opposite flattened (as the prints are on it). This offers for example at the COWON dock the advantage that actually have 2 jack next to each other, which has (apart from the very cheap HAMA cables) never fit in many cables, I've already tried. Especially when so very close the jacks are together beneficial, if that is not the only MP3 high-end cable here that fits all.
The cable is made very solid despite its filigree impression. The coils (spirals spring) on the plug is a highlight that should not be underestimated and very well placed for filigree cables! All connectors are bombproof in the bushes. The inner conductor is silver plated, if that's really of interest, the plugs are as übleich 24ct gold plating.
Sonically, the cable is very neutral. I have the 1.0m version, since the bass bone-dry, yet comes with the - there's where the recording requires - necessary force. I can in the MP3 section God knows not find a sonic downside, even with my mobile iRiver IMP-1000 CD player does not. Rather, I am of the opinion that the cable sounds better than the mobile devices, at least it does not limit the sound character of the respective devices.
The bottom line is smooth 5 star. The (small) extra charge compared to other cables is justified. For me the issue is 3,5mm-> RCA completed.

Update (07/2011): Recently there is the i-Connect series of Oehlbach. From the series I have the 3.5 mm jack to 3.5 mm jack. Have I also here the 3,5er considered to RCA, it is about 30% cheaper in price. But I find the plug, especially the RCA page as significantly better in MP3 !. The i-Connect is certainly not bad, but who wants to spend a little more and should connect high-end devices do not save at the plug. In comparison, the i-Connect is no silver "inner conductor" from. Sonically, the i-Connect is determined not bad. see Rezi at
