Jay Taylor told here comprehensively and in detail the story of the leader of the Nationalist Chinese, Chiang Kai-Shek. The book provides even someone who has dealt with the matter still a lot new. Taylor tried in my opinion honestly and fairly with the highly fascinating person of Generalissimo deal. How far is written is scientifically sound, I can hardly judge, since I have no sources. What, however, the perfect image a bit clouded, are nonsensical error. So it is said that Indonesia Mig-16 (sic!) Have received warplanes and swept the German "Tiger tank" 1940 the Western Allies aside. However, Tiger until the end of 1942 came to the front, a Mig-16, there is simply not.
Such obvious and striking errors should not happen per se. Are there now isolated cases and a lapse or Witness of systematic weaknesses in the book? I can not judge it. The fact that a book about a military leader but shows dramatic weaknesses in the military facts is a little unsettling.
On the whole, it has fallen to me yet and was very interesting. Without being able to Mandarin and without Chiang's diaries were published on an understood language from me, I will in any case have no choice ...
