In the case of Kalisto, CFOs more interested in their person by the company were the architects of the fall. The scholarship also played an important role. But the knockouts are coming especially if one believes this book, the so-called collaborators with their own agenda.
The French legal system is also pointed, with its red tape, its tatilloneries (to be polite) and its inconsistencies, while a business struggle every day to stay alive.
A gold mine for entrepreneurs, although many may feel discouraged from reading this book ...
I removed one star because, as passionate and integrates the author may be, it can not avoid judging events too personally.
You can not really blame in, but his failure to some basic rules (do not spend money that we did not read the documents before signing them, remain suspicious of smiles, n ' accept written undertakings) and glorification of his titles (The Fifth Element? Nightmare Creatures ..? ..) recall that this is a personal view. And therefore biased.
Outside Dark Earth, a real undeniable achievement, Kalisto productions were not as accomplished as the book may suggest. Some decisions could have been taken as to focus on the games "indies" short-cycle rather than AAA very heavy, or wear / PC titles lay little known to the coffers. Chimeric (repay long-term loans with its share up, which dangled wanadoo cans contracts flinguer Kalisto and buy cheap, GEM loose in the final deal) could have been avoided.
It is a pity, however, that both know-how and technology have not benefited to the company, both internally developed these tools seemed solid and promised a good future.
'Good end, I nitpick.
It is easy to judge now, as the evidence now were completely unknown at the time (apart from certain financial).
As a business leader, and even if we only take half of what written as true, the author has done a very good job. As best he could, and as long as possible. What he lacked in talent / training, he made up for in passion / relational. Too few clubs can boast of having had such a commitment to his head.
This book is also fun to share a snapshot of the time it provides, some characters are still in business. The author's views on some major players is so rich teaching. And unfortunately confirmed by reality for some (a publisher of a certain call of duty).
A book to read because, unfortunately, still relevant.
