The first impression:
The phone is housed in a very simple packaging. As usual, puts Philips on a black package with the phone on the face plate (however, the figure is not to scale).
Without much effort, the unit from the packaging can take, so far so good.
The accessories is extensive and includes the handset, the base station, an AC adapter, a telephone cable and a suitable cleaning cloth. Moreover, in addition to the guarantee certificate various instructions and a variety of adapters are included.
Construction and installation:
Including the Quick Start Guide, the phone is ready with just a few clicks away. The menu navigation is self-explanatory, summarized succinctly again in the Quick Start Guide.
In user everything is more in great detail and explained well described. Only the font is too small, which legibility but very restricting.
Style:
As marked on the package top Philips has the phone missed a real wood finish. The device gives it a personal touch, because none are alike. The material used is Philips really succeeded. The white plastic works in conjunction with the real-wood finish very precious - of course the aluminum operations at the top and bottom of the phone may be mentioned here.
On the left was a 3 cm long adhesive residue in the transition between wood and plastic - these lies but remove relatively well.
Ease of use:
The slightly curved shape, the handset fits comfortably in your hand - even during longer conversations falls the slight bend to positive. The handset is in weight in order - not to turn out but harder he would.
The key size is also suitable for larger hands more than just adequate. The writing on the color display is easy to read and sufficiently dissolved. On the phone back there is a small white flashing light that reliable information about missed calls, etc..
Telephony:
The sound and sound quality is convincing, the speakers very powerful. The tone of voice during a call can be individually set - clear, soft and warm here are possible. Even with larger distances between the handset and base does not occur disconnections. The built-in battery lasts a long time - up to 18 hours of talk time remain, according to instructions. The integrated phone book allows for 250 entries; The call log can store up to 50 entries.
Ringtones are many available, which some did not listen very successful, which limits the selection to a handful of different sounds. Here Philips could still make improvements.
The answering machine is working properly and stores up to 60 minutes.
In the settings you can activate the so-called Eco mode or Eco mode +. The radiation is reduced by about 60% in the eco mode and the power consumption is similarly reduced. In ECO + mode additionally the radiation in standby mode is reduced further.
Conclusion after one month of continuous use:
+ Modern design
+ Exclusive material
+ Simple construction and easy installation
+ Mature technology / easy menu navigation
+ Decreased radiation and reduced power consumption by div. Ökomodi
+ Lots of extras such as baby monitor, clock, etc.
- Ringtones partly failed
(A bigger or better selection would be desirable)
All in all, I would like to do without my Philips Design M8 phone. It works reliably and is visually accents. The price performance ratio is appropriate in particular through the sophisticated technology and the sophisticated mix of materials.
