After the Vanguard Spirit 8x42 XF and the XF Spirit have 10x42 tested with a knowledgeable friend, I decided ultimately for the model 8x42.
I want to examine this:
Everyone trembles automatically when it needs to hold an object against gravity - for example, a drinking glass or even the binoculars ("postural tremor").
The higher the magnification of the binoculars, the shaky so the image.
From about 12-fold magnification, the camera shake without a tripod is used, for example, so severe that it interferes. The eyes are also quickly tired.

Ultimately I trusted on the Bundeswehr, which still uses binoculars with 8x magnification. Thus, the decision was finally dropped.

The binoculars will be delivered with a matching nylon bag, at the back of a belt loop attached. Another practical detail: The bag has two short straps with a snap lock. Also the shoulder strap has such a closure and can be mounted in this way on very good binoculars or even in your pocket. The strap is padded, which increases the comfort considerably.
The binocular has a robust and solid and makes a high quality impression. It is also waterproof.
In a close examination, we could not detect any optical flaws or dust inclusions.
At all important points, it is provided with a non-slip rubber coating. It can therefore also with wet hands good grip especially not with its approximately 660 g is too difficult.
The front dust caps are attached to the binoculars. They fit well and firmly. The dust caps for the eyecups (actually a cap, since the two parts are flexibly connected) can be attached to the strap, so you do not loose or each time must stow cumbersome. Here was thought along.
The glass provides sharp and high contrast images and excellent color reproduction. Also convincing performance at dusk. Even in darker lighting conditions everything is still clearly visible. Moreover, at no time stray light is visible.

In total, there are two other settings in which Vanguard Spirit XF 8x42. For eyeglass wearers, it is advisable to bring the wheel in the lower, without glasses in the upper position.
I am looking forward to the Vanguard Spirit XF 8x42 to be used as powerful and reliable companion for nature watching and / or hiking.

While there is not enough on the performance of premium models approach, which are even better processed and visually a class of its own, a total one but a very good quality at a reasonable price gets (currently around 165 euros) especially when you consider that you have to invest for the top binoculars premium manufacturer up to ten times these binoculars.
I am not an expert on binoculars, but I know when the product does what I measured him on the price - expect. And here my expectations were exceeded.
