Have been the Apple Airport Express used as Airplay receiver. Unfortunately, Apple has since years the problem that short dropouts when streaming music arise depending on the current firmware version again. Apple has not yet come to grips with and I've lost faith. How do you make an existing Top HiFi system AirPlay and DLNA efficient? The AirDac is the solution. The AirDac you can connect with cable or WiFi to the house network. Then you can by all Apple devices select the AirDac as AirPlay client. the same applies to the Windows world with DLNA. Using a cinch cable then goes to the amplifier. In my case, a Rotel. Alternatively, I run a Beyerdynamic A20 KH preamplifier and a T90 KH. The sound on the T90 is simply sensational!. Alls source material I use recordings in Apple Lossles or FLAC format. This works with iTunes but also with other streaming servers. DLNA has the advantage that it also supports sample rates beyond 44kHz with higher resolutions. However, I do me very hard because nich differences while listening wahzunehmen.
What are multiple via software or hardware switchable outputs and inputs I would be desired. This is currently not planned. So I still have to install a mechanical switch in the signal path for the output to select between amplifier and amplifier KH. At the entrance is similar. The AirDac does have a SPDIF / Toslink input as an alternative to LAN (AirPlay / DLNA) but I have not yet figured out how switching works. On the subject of price / performance: 500, - Euro is a lot of money. However, there is my knowledge, no device on the market that provides exactly this functionality in quality. This is not a product to a 500, - Euro azuschliessen stereo. If you have very high standards of quality and the wherewithal you will probably find currently no direct alternatives, unless you buy the same new integrated amplifier with built Airplay etc. But who wants to continue to operate its old amplifier baby or a source for a Top KH amplifier examined is optimally served here.
