About 1 month ago I bought the Aurora Australis Investigator L3 and have never regretted my purchase. For years I had a Maglite with 3 baby cells since this has now given up the ghost had to be something new. Meanwhile, I have skillfully collect a range of experience with the Southern Lights lamp. The lamp is in comparison to the Maglite much lighter and smaller. It is powered by 3 baby cells. The manufacturer specifies a burn time of 35 hours. I can now say that the burn time is still somewhat longer, since I use the lamp during day night service for about 2-3 hours. Since my purchase, I had not yet change the batteries, although it shows that not the light output is 100% but enough and bright. The light output is compared to the Maglite 10 times as high, and took me almost cut off the stool when I turned on the first time the lamp. It is built tough and is very comfortable to hold. The operation with gloves is not a problem. This lamp makes my work definitely.
What I did not like is the delivery no batteries were there, but what I can with the price / performance ratio for the lamp quite understand. The Southern Lights Investigator L3 gets me a buy rating and 5 stars.
