I have long wanted, and tried a lot. Crayons there are a dime a dozen. Mostly bad. Most crayons break starting at sharpening. Before you can begin to paint, you already have a 1/4 of Pin weggespitzt. Or you have really solid press it so that any color comes down on paper. And here I am talking about not even from the cheap pens, with Farber Castell I have not really been lucky. These pins were then more expensive, but not really so much better than the others. That's why I was skeptical at the Polychromos. "Much more expensive ..... but really much better" ???? Yes, they are much better. They can sharpen well, and paint quite outstanding, even with light pressure. With a little more pressure, it looks almost as if someone had painted with felt-tip pens. The colors have rich tones. I'm excited. Finally!
