Positives:
- Simple and attractive design,
- Simple installation and commissioning.
Negatives:
- Previously 3 false alarms at 2 detectors in 5 months (1x by a cigarette, 2x for no apparent reason)
- In the sixth month (at night) Alarm! The first 10 year lithium battery was empty! (Made in China)
Disadvantage: When Abus an empty battery is not beeping or chirping by faint signals (as with other smoke detectors), but it triggers every 60 seconds at full volume a signal.!
- The LED also nice for the needy security every 45 seconds flashes very brightly want to know whether the smoke is still running... Bad for a Fehrnseh- or movie night when the detector is in sight.
Conclusion:
- The Abus looked solid, the VdS mark was in addition a good feeling of security. Unfortunately, the whole thing was a bad investment. The detector did not keep what the manufacturer promised.
- The detectors run apparently not reliable as the remaining commodity in the market. Just imagine if one of the false alarms would have mistreated my pets in my absence. I'll look for a smoke heat detector combination. Therefore, the detector go back.
Update 09-2013 damaged RM15 for all:
I did it and the successor again resorted to ABUS (brave thing!). This time for RM20 smoke heat detector combination. And what can I say one year peace and contentment are behind me, no false alarms. More under RM20.
