Fred Vargas craft archaeologist specializing in the Middle Ages. Which perhaps explains a certain rigor in the narrative, a precision, attention to detail that plunge us immediately in its history. This is the first novel I read it, and certainly not the last. From the first pages I hung dry style, clear and concise, dialogues just as accurate, humorous and sometimes surreal. The characters are endearing quickly, the story is set up cleverly, bit by bit, and the outcome provided some surprises. Excellent therefore, a discovery that makes you want to read his other books.
