- Switching and comparison of Canon and other models -
The camera is super. For me it was the switch from a 350D, and exactly the right move. As it is I can not say with a transition from the models in between acts.
However, I must say that the difference in the images from the 350D 7D to clearly determine. Especially if you have both on hand and can make comparison shots. The noise behavior the 7D is better. This can be stated without testing laboratory (subjectively estimated, I would say that a 200 iso the 350D is comparable to the 1000 Iso the 7D, but that will certainly be able to find out real tests better)
- Experience with different lenses -
The AF of the 7D is great. I have taken in a few days (I have it for a week) with three different lenses (the kit lens 18-135; 100-400er and 28-105). From the subjectively perceived speed the 28-105er cut noticeably the best. The kit lens is but now and then longer used in some comparison images.
- What really helps me -
A super idea, the developer is the "Q" button. This stands for "Quick View" and allows the rapid change of different parameters. Although this Q-button has nothing to do with the "Q" from James Bond, but it seems as if the developers exactly achieve this association with it. For faster to get to his "secret weapons" get close ;-)
- Flash thing -
Furthermore succeeded is the implementation for controlling external flash units. I tested hitherto. With a 430EX II and can only say, that everything works without problems and quite outstanding The corresponding menus are quite self-explanatory and the look at the manual betrays, that one should deactivate the corresponding parameter again when not in use an External Flash. The rest of the manual I was able to work without reading me.
- Others -
The camera has an overall rather robust impression (confirmed among other things, a product of a professional photographer who has photographed at the South Pole) and I have been able to find anything negative.
What pleases me again and I put a smile on your face, the shutter sound. Especially when it hears about 8 times per second :-)
The technology is at the current price of less than 1,400 euros (just the body) level. But even if the price would rise by one or two hundred euros, currently worth buying.
- Compared to other manufacturers -
A comparison between the 7D and an appropriate model from a different manufacturer, I do not prefer this, as I have already photographed in the analog days, with Canon and would, at least currently wecheln to any other manufacturer.
But for beginners who are considering themselves to purchase a DSLR and have not yet been linked to a system that was recommended to take the models shortlisted times in the hand. Whether that was a model a little less noise reduction than the other is completely irrelevant if you do not get along with the basic operation.
- Note -
Previously on Canon, a cycle of the model update of 18 months should be noted. An outlier was updating the 5D on 5D Mark II - da did it take substantially longer until Canon out brought a new model. Whether the Mark II will therefore be updated in 2010, so is questionable. Therefore, you should consider whether you need a full-frame sensor and whether an intermediate step on the 7D for the coming years is not sufficient before right now acquires a 5D.
Similarly, the potential "Movers" the 40D- or 50D models consider whether they now want a new camera. For me the switch was right and at the right time. But I also came from a 350D and the models between this and the 7D have been able to encourage me to no transition, because the differences were too low.
As for the movie function of the 7D, so I bought a DSLR because I want to take pictures. The films is "nice-to-have". Presumably, you can much more rausholen here than I've ever used.
In any case, the camera is great fun and I think that other photographers who work with Canon models this can confirm.
