We opted for a telecom CombiCard with pure data usage (30GB per month up to 150 Mbit / s) and place the surfsticks we now decided to use the Huawei B593 S-22nd Incidentally, one should note that there is from the B593, a predecessor that no LTE Cat. 4, and therefore no rates up to 150 Mbit / s, but "only" 100 Mbit / s. The B593-S 22 order we choose one-Express to the next morning to start right away, which worked.
The Huawei B593S22 could be set up easily and has set up the data profile for Telekom LTE network we were able to get started. Kept outdoors from the skylight, we had great reception values of about 30 to 40 Mbit / s. Inside behind the window there were nevertheless still 10-20 Mbit / s.
We operate the device with an external antenna LTE (gabs here on Amazon - LTE LOG antenna) and thus create values now receive 55-68 Mbit / s, which yoy. the 2 Mbit DSL is a huge difference. The B593 also supports external antennas and MIMO realized this even automatically. One can in the firmware but also manually switch between external and internal antenna and forth.
What the Huawei LTE router lacks, in my view, is the function as in the LTE Fritz boxes to have a tool integrated in the firmware that lets you optimally aligns the external antennas (direction, angle, etc.). This we managed only by trial and error for hours.
CONCLUSION: super LTE router with no frills and already with the latest-generation LTE Cat4.
