Fast Conclusion: The purchase was well worth it. Because the J870DW has become much faster when copying. While a laser copier needs time to heat up the PHD system, took the old Tinen spotlight Brother J430W from standby mostly before copying starts 30sec. Head Cleaning, then 18sec for printing a single page, then again 30sec for printhead cleaning. So about 1min 30sec until the next single page is accepted. Only when the automatic sheet feeder is used, the series can be copied in one, but in individual pages disturbs the powerful.
The new J870DW is now at the level of a laser printer: In the single page it starts to scan immediately and print that goes seamlessly. He is faster than the laser that only heats the PHD unit. After single page he needs only about 12sec for printhead cleaning. Thus I am faster than the laser in a single copy. For a copy series on the automatic document feeder, which works even better than its predecessor, I'm faster than the laser. The laser has only advantages when from 3 single copies must be made, since as the image drum is already heated.
Advantages of MFC J 870DW:
- Up to 3 individual copies as fast as laser printers, as well - much faster than older inkjet multifunction printer from Brother, no waiting time more
between scanning and printing
- Quieter than its predecessor (clear) - quieter than laser (there is the vent, which concerns the heating)
- The automatic sheet feeder is improved
- Design much fancier, with touch screen instead of buttons, the necessary finger ways: 1. Touch touch screen, switches quickly from standby again, 2. Copy 3. Start Copy Black are close proximity to one another so that the workflow significantly optimized! The printer comes in just over a second from standby.
- The power consumption is not measured, but certainly much better than with my Brother MFC laser printers,
which was scrapped immediately. This we would take just to copy many pages back to the stream. Everything else makes the Tinen spotlights better, quieter, cheaper and cleaner (without toner dust load).
- It builds in depth and in height a lot more compact, although built good A4 paper tray (catchment works just fine)
Disadvantages: No! Changing the single cartridge is easily and cleanly. All handles are displayed well.
A small drawback are still printing costs over the older Brother Titenstrahlern because about your print cartridges-distributors no replicas of cartridges are still available.
The cartridges Prices of Originalnachfüllpatronen keep black with 12-15 euros but well within the scope and for the benefits of this new device can I get over the need for original cartridges well.
The WLAN feature we did not test, the printer is operated via USB cable with Verläungerung on total 8m distance to the PC.
