Faulty outside large cities, miserable cards, great routes

My predecessor was a Garmin Navi 1370 LT (Europe with USA) with 30-year updates.

An update after two years was necessary as the Garmin prepared more and more trouble - crashes, error, miserable updates. After comparing long I have for TomTom (opposite Navigon 9x) made a conscious decision because:
a) HD Traffic sounded very interesting
b) The representation is not that important to me
c) tested in charging me the speed of the system really liked.

First the positive features: ingenious magnetic holder, ingenious suction cup. The system starts in less than 5 seconds and locates me in less than 30 seconds (distinct advantage over Garmin, that this will take up to a minute). Convenient selection of radar detector (fixed installations, known speed camera locations, etc., etc.), the Navi turns in case of loss of the current non-self-starting (short break or loose plug thus does not lead to a reboot). Elegant can be multiple objectives deposit or enter new addresses. The HD Traffic is the force - in my hometown the usual jam traps were quickly identified and proposed alternative routes - Emphasis Raged! The voice prompts come often, precise and rich actually entirely in order to pleasantly reach the goal.

I had been reservations about the LIVE and HD benefits, this would miss but never again after just two days. So perfectly matching routes I've never had.

Negative falls on this unit, the quality of the supplied map material on - that's just a joke. Streets in Berlin / Brandenburg, which have been available for many years, does not yet know the Navi. Speed ​​limits seem to be appreciated only on the basis of the road class. The perfect routes therefore relate only to the "older" roads (estimated 3-4 years), here TomTom must urgently rectify quickly. Since only a single update of these maps is that necessary updates are going to sell expensive - that's a gross impertinence. I buy also no car and screw me the necessary parts, such as rear-view mirrors and wheels themselves and take my maintenance before himself.

The voice recognition works sometimes, but always quite sluggish and slow. Unfortunately there is no easy way to load many destinations via email or application on the device. The card must for goals between continents previously manually changed - unfortunately not mentioned anywhere. The update function works, but shows incorrect time on (standing for several minutes with an identical time rest firmly). The hints and tips for the system are recorded apparently random and inopportune times and quite often disturbing.

As a summary: HD Traffic offers enormous potential. The Navi is very good on the user-configurable (what information, when will be warned), Roads fantastic. The cards are miserable and depend significantly compared to the quality of other manufacturers.

After a few weeks / months now even more feedback:

Negative falls on in daily operations that

1) the display reflects heavily. Bright clothes in the summer leads to unreadable presentation. Fortunately, the cast information is indeed accurate and well,
2) The LIVE services only work in Europe. This is also on the packaging, but means, conversely, that outside Europe NO namely GAR NOT available traffic information and you reinfährt cheerfully into the nearest jam. According to TomTom support the TMC charger could match the 1005 physically, but there is no guarantee that this actually works.
3) The firmware has a bug in routes with intermediate target "city center" and moved like this at 10-15km.
4) The POI list is inaccurate by several hundred meters and thus no better than a paper map.
5) The cards are even worse (inaccurate, not current) than expected in the first few weeks,
6) The promotion of MapShare can not be switched off - even after an activation of the Map Share services annoying at each target entering the reference to Map Share,

Especially point 2) is of course a joke right - because one has a modern navigation system, best cards and sitting in traffic jams. But a TomTom LIVE for America and one for Europe to me is too expensive. For frequent travelers between the US and Europe, the hope for LIVE service, this Navi therefore really should not.

Positive I noticed that

1) can be set several favorites (work, home, school, ...)
2) The favorite with the map change and therefore no targets in Europe appear to me when I'm driving in America.

I have now been a point deduction, because a "WORLD" device, it is definitely not. For this, the TMC receiver could accompany or weekly activation of LIVE Services in other areas maps should be possible.

Renewed depreciation - now only a star. Stay away, this Navi does not work in the basic functions to faulty :-(

I have multiple objectives (small villages) is approached in Brandenburg. The destination is not a problem, the map of the target object is the correct destination - but the Navi calculates the route to another village about 10-12 km. The times refer to this unknown village and from there you can not get with the Navi to the actual target. The device therefore does not do what it should (navigate). This is an absolute blunder for such a luxury equipment.

Who can test yourself: target village street in Seehausen (Niedergörsdorf, Brandenburg) ends in Malterhausen.

In Berlin / Potsdam everything works fine. But outside - Stay away!
