Commissioning for calls was absolutely no problem. When model T3e MUST incidentally the external antenna can be connected.
The voice quality is very dependent upon which analog phone is connected. I have lying around many newer and older models and the voice quality (especially in terms of volume and noise) varies between very good and hard to understand, whichever phone is connected - and regardless of which voice quality has this model on a fixed network connection! Echo and dropouts, I had none of the phones. With a well-co-operating model and volume and noise were ok. Overall, almost landline quality and much better than I am accustomed to in this mobile phone calls.
Beautiful is also that the PIN request of the SIM card does not have to be turned off (as with similar units) - the PIN is stored in the installation in XSJack.
But now to my main point: I want to send over the XSJack faxes - with a modem connected to your computer!
In that regard, yes, in another review that this would not go. And also the - absolutely useless - email support of 4G Systems thought that I would probably have this bad luck.
But since this information did not particularly competent impression, I tried it anyway and - surprise !! - The fax via modem worked right away (different receivers tested). Even the transmission protocol that worked back received the XSJack via fax to the computer properly.
My test environment: E-Plus network-SIM, Apple Macintosh with Mac OS X 10.6.8, 56K USB Modem USRobotics (there also here at Amazon).
The standard tools of Mac OS X as a rich "fax software" (System Preferences> Print & Fax, there to set up the USB modem as a "fax printer" and - hey presto - you can send from any application via the print dialog faxes.
Important points in this respect in connection with the XSJack:
- I've configured in XSJack NOT fax reception / activated (* 10 #) - see below..
- Before the receiver to dial number three diamond (ie ###) to enter - so the XSJack signaled that he should go for this call in fax mode.
- The fax software on the computer must be set up to receive faxes (ie in my case in the Mac OS X System Preferences), because the XSJack the transmission protocol to the computer "zurückfaxt".
When receiving faxes from the phone network (ie not internally between XSJack and computer), however, I had no success. The configuration according to instructions (* 10 #) could be still accomplish, but for incoming faxes the XSJack not switch to fax mode. I think that this is but a problem related to the network operator is - the manual of XSJack doing appropriate indications that the direct faxes sometimes does not work, but only by an appropriately configured mailbox. - I think, therefore, that the fax would not work in my case with a "real" fax machine.
If you want a Mac user with a USRobotics 56K USB Modem via the mobile phone network faxes only send and not receive, did so with the XSJack T3e some opportunities that this works.
I'm with the device in any case extremely satisfied!
