The walimex pro AE14mm F2.8 ED AS IF UMC earned themselves on the high-resolution Nikon D800 a clear recommendation!
Advantages and disadvantages:
++ Sharp
++ Hardly CAs! (Lateral chromatic aberration)
++ On a budget
+ Quite bright
+ Good mechanical processing
+ Bokeh is good
- Strong distortion (but it can be easily corrected, for example with the PTLens program)
- Vignette is relatively strong
- MF only (no AF)
- The focus at infinity is not correct, I had to take a series of tests to detect focus (precision) how far the scale is different.
Conclusion:
Who get along with manual focusing and is not afraid a software equalizer with some subjects (eg architecture), gets a super wide-angle lens that provides more usable even in the corners and good sharpness for relatively little money.
That - especially for such a light-strong full-frame SWW - the CA errors are so small, is almost unbelievable.
