I think this Olympus Zuiko combination for a real alternative to heavy SEL 4 / 70-200 G. It is also handy.
-----------------------------------
Yesterday I was in the nature of the road and had this lens in my camera bag Interceptor, to a A7R, an A6000, a Walimex 14mm f / 2.8, a Sony G 18-105 f / 4 and a Zeiss 32mm f / 1.8.
The pictures I have now analyzed and processed (the JPEG files that were 16 to 28 MB in size with the FE 70-200 came about).
Here are my impressions, as short and precise (and it's become too long):
GENERAL sharpness / OSS
The A7R has famously produced a very rabid mechanical shutter, the shocks, that is why I have tried to use the shortest possible exposure times. The longer the focal length, the shorter.
I managed at 70mm to shoot some very sharp images with 1/30, but not all.
At the other end is all that was shot over 1/250 sharp and approximately 50% between 1/80 and 1/125.
Perfect are images with 1/320 and f / 6.3, because as an optimal sharpness and good depth of field prevails.
Good images at 1/30 are the proof that the OSS well funktionniert, but it has limits: The closer the 200mm one feels, the more advisable it is briefly illuminate.
My recommendation for normal daylight, overcast to minimize Verwackelungsrisiken:
- 70mm: 1/80
- 130mm: 1/125
- 200mm: 1/250
This provided the lens provides a focus as I wished and 90mm from the A7R erwarte.Bei and a distance of about 80m are fine details to the building as the lightning conductor wires, solder joints or the gutter yet mapped so that they clearly sees without his imagination to try and have to interpret pixels.
The richness of detail is a bridge camera with much stronger focal length comparable (but of course on a much wider field of view) and the picture very plastic, structures are very well represented by shadows and subtle color shades without noise interference.
CONTRAST / DYNAMICS
The optics is to pass the finest details and nuances of the sensor is able. At first, these appear not in the 26 GB large image file, but are visible in the image editing: Finest cloud structures at the bright sky or colored objects in pitch-black areas are darkening of Gllanzlichter and raising Schatten.sichtbar.
The JPEG of A7R require generally a fine-tuning, but it is probably the first camera with which one can dispense with RAW files. This requires a look that captures everything, and that does FE70-200mm FE4 well.
DEPTH OF FIELD
f / 8 seems to me a good value for vegetation in the foreground rather sharply and building in the background very sharp abzubilden.Fokusiert to approx. 60-70 m istorical the depth between 20m and infinity. At f / 6.3 I have a blur to about 25m and approx. 200m. Below it will be interesting for portrait photography, but bad for landscapes and architecture.
It seems to me that the objective is balanced: Bokeh lovers are thus just as happy as landscaping photographer.
Feather
The lens has undoubtedly and naturally an edge blur, more or less on the focal length. Details for this purpose it in tests and reviews. The question is whether it is disturbing, especially for landscape and architectural photography, because in the portrait photography, this may even be desirable.
My answer is definitely no!
I have carefully analyzed my shots on the screen and roof edges, etc. are displayed cleanly and clearly also on äßersten edge. Of course there is the bottom left and right, etc. any blurred grasses, but that is the focus.
Even trees, branches and leaves at the edge is not as sharp as in the center, but that is so little that the attention of a very critical observer is not excited. That's my opinion, they need not be congruent with Pixelpeeper. In any case, it would be difficult to find a look that does it better, at least not less than EUR 5,000.
COLOURS
Exquisite! This criterion is mE anyway not very important because in the image processing, it is not a thing saturation, color temperature or tint easy to change in order to achieve the desired effect.
FOCUS
The AF funktionniert absolutely satisfactory to my A7R, both in terms of speed and accuracy. He does not empty (at least as long as there are still fairly light) and comes exactly at the point estimated 0.4-0.5 s.
That's probably enough to capture zoom approaching bikers at a motocross race exactly, but that's not my area and I can not judge. When gambling dog I have 30-50% wastage, but the A7R is not the right camera for such a thing.
The village post box test is one of the tests that I do when I get a new optical device:
The idea is to photograph the Abhohlzeiten readable in 75m distance. I've tried a half dozen lenses from Nikon, Sony and Tamron over Novoflex- and LA-LE4 adapter vain. With the FE 70-200 is not about even, but the results are clearly the best that I have achieved so far.
Chromatic aberration (CA)
Again, I have my standard test to contrasting objects against the bright sky in the area.
It has not been able to discover with the FE 70-400 Milka or mustard stripes me. Sure, in pine needles in 60 meters there is 1-3 pixel wide gray shadow, but at magnifications that uses no human being, except perhaps private detectives, spies or paparazzi.
