This Trendnet Wireless extender (I have had only good experiences with this brand) therefore behaves like a "real" router when connecting to itself (without wifi key).
We therefore accesses a simplified interface to the browser (no need CD!).
Conforms to strict WPA2-AES and fixed channel on my side because I'm pretty square on certain personal set-ups (automatic stuff is not reliable).
And so, it connects to the router repeater to extend (like my linksys WRT160NL) ... we see the good in DHCP as a real object (tablet, phone, PC) ... so we can go there afterwards for check that everything is set.
On the repeater, there is a light which indicates its status:
- Red = current software startup
- Orange = seek the point to repeat (or configuration to do)
- Green = connected to wifi points to repeat
... And finally, I bought this equipment to extend a little weak on my Wifi Chinese tablet PC while my asus had no problem in one place.
And it works perfectly!
When I use the tablet, I plug the WiFi extender, I turn on the shelf and no worries ... the rest of the time the spreader is unplugged next to an outlet.
Nevertheless, one can turn the black switch below (toy style) if you want to disconnect from the electrical outlet (which is silly, but ... to each his own).
