For me as an old Springsteen fan, there has always been an abomination that the old CDs from Bruce had such an abysmal sound. The old LPs that I have also been, since even a little better, especially in the warmer sound. The CD pressings against too bright in the treble, with too little bass and really garish in the overall sound, which had to do with fun and little noise! The comparison LP / CD worth especially in the live box, because the warm natural sound of LPs contributes significantly to the listening experience. So now newly remastered the first seven albums, which means for the first five for the first time since "Darkness On The Edge Of Town" and "Born To Run" were already finished. In these two instances I can hear compared to the existing Remasters only a difference in "Darkness" because the sound is a bit warmer and therefore sounds a bit analog. But the first five albums have really benefited from the remasters, which can be heard after a few seconds. The remastering, incidentally Bob Ludwig accepted that indeed works with Springsteen album since "Nebraska". He has obtained for the original tapes by Sony and truly has delivered a very good job, for which also sound engineer Toby Scott has earned his merits. Whoever heard by the individual albums, will immediately notice the change / improvement, because everything has become clearer, more detailed and warmer sound. You can hear details that were previously not present, so some pieces sound like rerecorded and I mean that positively. Bob Ludwig has done everything right and the fans will be pleased. There is all for now on CD and the iTunes Store, and in addition there will be just audible at Spotify, as with HiRes streaming as HDtracks etc. and also the release on vinyl will follow shortly that sound even better, according to Bob Ludwig intended as the CDs! In the box are 8 CDs in original cover and a beautiful 60 page book with many great photos of Springsteen's first ten years of his career.
