Here, the PLR 15 the smallest rangefinder from Bosch. The difference to the big brothers and sisters: He can not do anything else than measuring. Volume calculation, length calculation by Pythagoras: None. He also has the smallest measuring range and is the smallest unit. Its display is lit and active differs from the larger models.
The size of the PLR 15 is a strength. It is smaller than a pack of cigarettes and thus found in each Craftsman's trousers place. He is being processed properly but probably not keep its good appearance after a few uses. But the display is too sensitive to scratches and flush with the housing, as scratches are inevitable. Unfortunately, the device is provided no protection pocket and so I've resorted to a "mobile phone socks" because fast times a bolt landed in the same bag, and because the PLR is 15 lose out.
As I said, the device can measure "only". However, this is less tragic, that way you at least still have to exert a bit of his brain, to determine the distance between two points using Pythagoras. However, should then creep no calculation errors :). The laser continuously measures and by the red dot you can see exactly how far you measure. Judging by the way, always from the bottom edge of the unit. The measurement is far more accurate than you (even as an accomplished craftsman) could it with a ruler hammer out. I cut today by laser wood paneling, it all came together at once perfect, amp is a relief.
The only button on the screen is the hold function to save a value between. This is then also displayed in the display, so that comparative measurements or area calculations are very simple. Power is turned off with a slide which this button then covered.
The display is thanks reverse video (dark background, white text) very easy to read, even outdoors. Only in very bright light sources, the display tends to mirror, but the numbers remain available for reading.
For storage the device is indeed no bag, but a metal box mitgliefert so that the device does not have to fly around in the toolbox at least when not in use. Who but frequently uses the device, which will save the permanent packaging, a bag would imho therefore been really better.
The unit is operated by the way with 2 AAA batteries and accumulators give the device to life.
Conclusion:
The device is a relief and if I count by how many folding rules I have now worn out, or one or the other means of measurement ruler was not so accurate, I regret to have not so bought a device earlier. However, Bosch supplies only the PLR 15 an instrument which price is not quite as difficult to weight, but also omitted arithmetic aids. So who does not want to Expect itself will have to look at a larger model. All others can safely access the PLR 15. in particular, the compact dimensions make the unit very useful in the (amateur) use. Criticism is for me the missing bag, but since just a small cell phone pocket remedy.
