So now came the TZ7 on the market. This has been much praised and got good reviews. And when the weaknesses of my TZ3 know very well, I also knew what I would have liked better. Only briefly summarized what bothered me at the TZ3. Noise performance from ISO 400 (sometimes even 200), low-light shots were never really particularly (without flash hardly usable, only conditionally well lit with flash), location shooting in poor lighting conditions require great sensitivity. There are a few other things, but as you can already see it boils down to how the camera behaves in difficult lighting conditions.
Now I read and tried long, and actually the TZ7 was relatively quickly uninteresting. In principle, only the results of Fuji 200EXR and even the Canon SX200 IS were good to very good for me.
The reason I've kept the Canon was then but the zoom. We watch only the recordings from the moon, which I made with this camera on. I'm still impressed that it worked. In the original resolution, the images are still much better. However, I had to use for the best results to the manual mode. Something I've always missed in my Panasonic. Of course, a compact camera needs a good automatic, but
especially in difficult lighting conditions would you have liked to set himself.
Nevertheless, be mentioned here that the automatic is impressive "intelligent". Macro mode, landscapes, backlit scenes and what I particularly noticed that facial recognition - everything is impeccably detected and set. The results of the automatic can be more than excellent. There are fine examples of this at the customer images.
Otherwise, there are in addition to the automatic (actually there are even 2) the mandatory SCN mode (Scene mode). In addition to the usual suspects such as sunset, snow, leaves etc. there is also a high-ISO mode of this name really deserves. At ISO 3200 and 2MP still be so in very low light make good shots. For 10x15 images that is quite usable.
Two other interesting settings are the time and the camera. This means for example, select a shutter speed, the camera sets aperture and ISO automatically. The auto iris works the same way, only you choose the aperture itself. These are really impressive options that I've never found on this scale so. Especially for beginners this is very interesting because, although they have a very good automatic but still try with the manual programs and experience.
Now very briefly about the negative points ..........
Honestly. 2 Mode: Up to now I really only a 3 missing. Although the camera can show corresponding bar, but the photo lands still in 4: 3 on the SD card.
And what about the criticisms repeatedly mentioned here? So I will not dictate to anyone what priorities it sets. But:
1. Each of the criticized pops up flash has the opportunities that arise by not understood. No "dig" in the flash menu on or off, or or or. Forefinger on it and the camera knows to be photographed without a flash and makes everything according to a new. Simple and ingenious. Everyone who criticizes that should really deal with the advantages thereby give the. By the way, hidden so even accidentally, the right middle finger to flash as with many other cameras. I think the phenomenon also know a lot.
2. Rattling optical image stabilizer. Hello? I would tighten the IS with a cordless screwdriver. No seriously. This is something each quality and do not mind! But if you / she shakes long and hard enough the problem will also be on their own. Please delete this review best voluntary.
3. Someone has criticized the macro mode. I want that now do not evaluate long. But who zooms to macro mode to telephoto, should really hold back with criticism. By the way this reviewer rated the TZ6 with 5 stars, but complained there not at the macro mode. There are more inconsistencies in this review. But I feel there is a lack of objectivity in principle the reviewers. The TZ6 costs almost the same as the SX200IS, but this can vary in any way the water. One should only look at the customer images there ....
4. Video capabilities. I understand those who actually such cameras for the video functions are buying not really, but anyway - to each his own. Despite all the shots are really good in 720p, and should be enough for any movie on DVD. Who actually comes to HD, which is here, however, in a real HD video camera (1080i / p) is recommended. Extends as well because of the sound of not real at this Cams quality video cameras. But who wants to - please. It works.
5. battery life. Someone wrote creates only 100 images. That's with me after a full charge is not the case. I'll be more than the 100. At the moment I'm at just 200, and the battery still holds by. So that ought to reach very far.
But now I have written already more than intended. Therefore only briefly my conclusion.
I am really been looking for a very good compact camera long. I never understood why you are always referenced for somewhat higher demands on the capabilities of a camera to DSLRs. Certainly better shots are thus still possible, but I'm not willing to lug to always suspected these giant things and best multiple lenses. Canon shows with this cam that my wishes were not so unworldly. Finally!
I can each find again in this review, recommend this camera with a clear conscience. Truly a great piece of hardware.
