First impression: excellent

Was previously using a homegrown WHS 2011. The power consumption was of course much higher than with this NAS.
Have the NAS set up yesterday, the installation of two hard disks was done without tools in a minute, connecting cables, power up and are looking for using the installation wizard the NAS.
Newest play operating system, adjust Raid ...
All in all, it took maybe 20 minutes to I could log in to the NAS me first.
The basic configuration was done in a few minutes (user set up, set up shares, administer rights, install additional programs).
There is very much possible with this NAS, I've only scratched the surface.
This went very quickly, the structure is usually logical, but it is helpful to look in to Synology forum, some things do not become apparent immediately.
Negative: I wanted to play on the PC photos to the NAS, the PC should generate equal to the thumbnails.
Worked well, but my PC would run through my entire photo collection almost 2 weeks around the clock.
Other applications can hardly be used during that time.
I stopped after 22 hours, almost 15,000 pictures have been uploaded and now I have the rest of the explorer moved directly to the Photo folder.
Probably the NAS needs now until Christmas to create all thumbnails ..

Three weeks later ...
Meanwhile, the NAS is for 3 weeks in operation, the remaining photos were extremely fast processing from the NAS itself, towards the end of the week everything went.
Meanwhile, the new firmware DS 5.1 is installed, so all is well. Very fast, quiet, reliable.
I would always buy me again this NAS.
