unfortunately I have a permanently installed poorly removable car radio with CD player and tired as ever CDs for use, which then break easily in the car - or over and over again to burn. Also, I have an iPod Nano 6G or g6 or so, which was only in the corner rum. With this attachment for the iPod The iPod can function as MP3 storage and feed the old car radio with my MP3 files - just great.
So:
The iCarPlay is simply plugged into the iPod. It has 3 possible FM frequencies which are preprogrammed.
Here with me in Cologne one transmitter was on all 3 pre-programmed frequencies but active, so the first is not run without changes.
So I have sought only to my radio at home an unused frequency that was close to the 3 proposals, so I did not have to change so much.
On channel 92.0 I've only had noise on the radio, that was the first task of the channel 92 in the iCarPlay adjust and test it. And lo and behold: Crystal-clear reception. Now I have the channel 92 also saved when iCarPlay - and it could go to the car.
There I was searching only existing channel, not preset on channel 92. So I eingeschlaltet the iPod and it has sent already up.
Then the car radio is switched on, the SCAN function and looking let until he has arrived at channel 92 - and my MP3 file was very good to hear. Saved the channel on the car radio and it could go.
Crystal-clear sound - if it will bear my car plant naturally only.
I stowed the IPod with the addition in the armrest (hierarchy display), made Amrlehne to - and the reception was just as good as before. To ensure that everything has remained invisible - so a thief can not see what there is in the car.
The next test: Supposedly I with the iCarPlay also can charge the iPod.
So that the iCarPlay included USB cable (standard USB, Apple no longer !!) connected to my USB-hole (Additional cigarette lighter plug) pure - and the iPod is charged while driving and plays music.
Exactly what I wanted - exactly works well! Genial, I am fully satisfied.
Next, I threw the burned CDs away and the original CD's packed back into the shells and home packed into the CD rack. And from now makes driving a lot more fun.
Now the only thing missing that I could operate the iPod well while driving. That's the only "defect", but depends on the iPod, not the iCarPlay, so an error in the "system". A car radio is of course much easier to use, especially while driving.
Perhaps there is even a remote control for the iPod - which I look at me next.
Watching course you have it, the Ipod just continues when you do the car out. And if you load it can (in theory) occur, the sucks empty permanently the battery - which I can not judge.
I have however prevented. I have a cable in the cigarette lighter, which everything off behind, when the charge current drops below a certain tension - so the car is spotted.
With me so can any device at the lighter more suck the battery. In the above case, but the iPod battery eventually becomes empty. But even so: The yes can be charged while driving.
So: Everything good, everything fits, all problems under control with this additional cable. Only the operability of the iPod (not the iCarPlay !!!) is not soooo great while driving.
I am fully satisfied!
PS: IPod and iCarPlay is yes then with standard USB cable. You can feed the IPod with music then also with standard USB cable the iCarPlay, so it must not use the expensive, special Apple USB cable! Always the iCarPlay it can, even if you go to the PC with it!
