First, a few facts: I have chosen for the JVC radio because it offers Bluetooth, DAB + and front USB and front Aux. Another radio, which I also offers all of these features can not be found.
I have installed the radio in a Golf IV (standard boxing front, rear without a subwoofer). For the DAB + radio reception I have at Ebay a DAB + adapter with passive roof antenna (looks like the original antenna) bought which makes the installation of a window antenna lapses. The supplied microphone is connected and glued in the middle of the ventilation.
The installation went smoothly due to the supplied ISO adapter.
In addition to other languages also a German manual is included, which was / is helpful to me.
So far the functions Bluetooth've used with iPhone, CD, DAB, FM and USB with iPhone. AUX I have not yet used / tested. AM I Expand / shut and previously not well used (AUX can be also off / switch off).
Bluetooth: The pairing with my iPhone worked fine. I hear on the Bluetooth function for commissioning a lot of music and have already conducted several phone calls. Both works beautifully. If you get in the car and the radio turns on automatically combines this with the iPhone (of course every time takes a few seconds until both devices have found) and you can make calls at anytime. The first call should be set / adjust the microphone volume and if necessary make further settings. Since I have the microphone mounted at the center where the blinker relay sits hear my interlocutor when turning a click, but really disturbing is not according to a statement of this. Otherwise, they understand me easily despite the distance of the microphone. About the boxes I understand my interlocutors also super. An echo does not exist, despite the output through the speakers. I have set that only the ringtone and message tones of iPhones are issued. The radio can also own sounds for calls and messages output (can be set individually depending on your taste). I also set the color of the radio will change to red for calls. Accepting do you call a phone button. Unproblematic while driving. If you press the phone button long, you can use the voice control of the iPhone to dial.
The keypad can be a lot of features such as front and back skipping, repeating on / off, use Random on / off, and search folders.
DAB: You can leave quickly search new stations on the DAB button when driving long distances. Otherwise, you can change this key directly to the DAB function when you, for example. Listens to music through Bluetooth. The skipping of channels takes my mind longer than in FM transmitters. This can be annoying sometimes.
FM: The FM receiver works fine. More not comes to mind.
There are 5 preset buttons for radio stations. You can change the display views on the various functions with the 6 button.
CD: Compared to my 10 year old Pioneer radio it will take much longer to a CD loaded is loaded with MP3s. Otherwise, the radio will play CDs without any problems. Dropouts at Cobblestone I can not say anything yet.
USB: you can load device and control the music functions on the iPhone via the USB port. I've even my iPhone via USB operated to listen to music. All worked fine. This feature I have to test in more detail.
Settings: The settings can be reached via a long press of the Menu button. There are several tabs with sub-items. It is controlled by the volume button and the Back button. All very easily. During the trip, you should not try the whole, however.
Appearance: Compared to my old Pioneer I find that the JVC looks slightly cheaper (ie the plastic look). However, the lighting looks nicer / better. The ability to customize the colors I really like.
Priced at around 190 Euros, I find it weak that no case for the control unit is included in delivery. Of course, I already knew that when ordering, but I was not aware that the control panel due to the volume controller is relatively high and therefore not fit into my old Pioneer Case. And JVC currently has no suitable case as an accessory.
Currently I give (as a normal car radio users without special needs and without knowledge of various car radios) the Radio 4 stars. I hope that a firmware update, the waiting times for DAB stations change even fixes.
