This 2 CD "Deluxe" edition is but - unlike most other - a must! "The Hero (Revisited)" is a real highlight, this new recording is considerably more bombastic than the album version. Was probably intended for a planned but then rejected single release. Unbelievable that the time was no single or was not released.
Also very beautiful are the early versions of "The Kiss" and "Football Fight" that clearly excessive queen come across, with piano instead of synthesizer.
Unlike most 2011er "Deluxe" editions is this m. E. for Queen fans essential. Sure, there are again 2 live recordings from Montreal album, but are "Flash" / "The Hero" in these versions very strong and fit well here it. The single version of "Flash" is one of them, and then just the 3 previously unreleased versions.
I would have still found worthwhile if you have the complete album at that packaged as dialogue-free music-only version. But here was the (odd) premise to pack only 5-6 pieces on the bonus CD.
Very disappointing is (as with the other editions) the booklet of this so-called "Deluxe" edition, 12 pages, which is already very meager. There are no movie stills still -More, no liner notes to the album (as usual), only to the bonus tracks (but these are quite informative). The lyrics (here's only 2) are included, however.
I'm not a fan of "Flash Gordon" soundtrack album, but because of the 3 great bonus tracks I forgive 4 stars.
